' I’m Patrick Seruwu, from kampala Uganda. My mother raised my three sisters and I under touch circumstances. So I was forced to drop out of school. My mother never the less provided for her family by being a street vendor, I too became a street vendor when I first arrive in Johannesburg, while working as a hair stylist.
I never intended to become an artist, but I was influenced by a close friend of mine late Benon Lutaaya. He was an artist and I spend more time with him, visiting him in his studio, attending art exhibitions, art become more appealing as a career.
I’ve been engaging with painting and drawing for the past two years, my work has been featured in group exhibitions such as The spring salon exhibition at Lizamore & Associates gallery, Corporate exhibitions such as aftermath at RMB Bank, Absa Bank gallery, Turbine Art Fair, Investec Cape Town Art Fair etc.
As a self-taught working artist, my work has been well received in art community.'
