Born in Pietermaritzburg, Bronwen Findlay studied fine art at Natal Technikon in Durban and the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg. While lecturing in Fine Art at the University of Durban-Westville, Findlay was involved in many informal community-based art programmes and workshops. Since 1973, Bronwen has had numerous solo and group exhibitions. She was the Artist-in-Residence at the Grahamstown Festival in 2000.
Bronwen’s work is characterised by intense, bold colours and vigorous painting techniques to elevate the decorative and the ordinary into her work.
