Aidon Westcott’s collages are made up of materials he has found in antique stores around the Eastern Cape. This South African Artist began his collages eight years ago after doing some research for a college assignment and searching through archives. One main theme found throughout the works is hand-painted fish. Fish can represent an inner reality, rather than an exterior one. Westcott uses bits from the past to trigger memories. The point of his collages is to bridge the gap between the conscious and the subconscious.
